Some people think it's holding on that makes one strong - sometimes it's letting go.

Now, I'm still searching for a job. And I shall press on. For only with a job, can I realise my current goals.

In chemistry lab, the lab technician locks the door 10 mins after 8.30. So all the latecomers actually automatically get to skip the lab. And that counts towards your attendance. As a foreign student, that's not a good thing. To miss out on attendance like that. I've got like better things to do with the hours I can skip than waste it on being late for chem lab.
On a lighter note, the weather is cooler these days. So there was no need for the aircon. Even without the aircon, it'd still be cold. So its a good way to save electricity. I guess.
I've got a presentation today. For english. I've learnt that female english teachers above the age of 45 are generally biased. Male teachers are more open. This semester's teacher is a guy, and he's awesome.

My body protested my decision to go to school, but I went anyway, I cannot miss math for anything in the world, especially not now, as I need the practice. The exams are in 6 weeks. My body won't allow me to eat, and I want to sleep.
Its lunch now, maybe I'll just go read some manga. It'd be good to indulge in some sloth.

Recovering from the spin is easy, too many shit drivers on the roads nowadays, no wonder accidents happen.
Rabbits
Its now a part of the road. the rabbit looked cute in my headlights. Before it got rolled over anyway.

We lost everything. It was a blessing for some, and a disaster for most. Belongings went up in flame and we lost our momentum to carry on. And j.f lost his beloved dvd player, turned into ash and carbon dioxide, it is still not known why he brought a dvd player, to that god forsaken place.
The situation wasn't handled well, a result of one man's inability to understand his subordinates and boost their morale there and then. People did not even have any confidence that there would be even any form of recompense.
But compensation came, it was a day of joy, because destroyed items could finally be replaced, yet some things could never be replaced.
And I've lost my train of thought, because staring at a tiny screen while on a train causes a sense of nausea.

Teriyaki sauce.
180ml Shoyu
180ml Mirin
180ml Sugar
180ml Sake
Added in the above order, and heated over a slow fire. Stir until everything dissolves and the solution boils, and continuously stir for awhile, till it thickens a little, and then let it cool. It doesn't freeze though, so keeping it in the freezer is best, it will be thick and nice when you take it out and use it.

3 hours till english, and this is the last I will see, of working with my group mates, looking forward to the 1 week break, I need this break, because as each day goes by, my mood progressively worsens, and it isn't even linear, i won't turn into a cat though.
Its a fuckin mission to get things done in this group, more of a mission than getting 2wo nicholas to do something for me.

So, I should be doing my slides, but I cannot really give much of a damn, since it's just collating and putting into points whats written in my report. Mundane as it is, English is a requirement for me to gain entry into university. English, they could have just given me, and I speak for the rest of the English speakers in class, one entrance examination in English and be done with it, but no, we have to attend lessons, do pointless projects, essays, reports, things I realised, I already know.
School itself is boring, doing the things I've already done before, chemistry is so easy it's not even funny anymore. I hardly have the drive to do anything anymore. And since I get a 1 week break from Friday onwards, I am almost in a holiday mood.
Back to the English project, there is a presentation involved, and I'm doing my own slides, of course I would, because I wouldn't trust anyone in my group with the task of transposing my work into a presentation because, well you know, China, uhhh, Dubai. And of course, I also did the introduction, conclusion and half the summary for the report.
And now, I shall resume being productive, which actually means I'm going back to work.
On a passing note, Sonata Arctica's new album is pretty good.

And, its harder than i thought, to get a job here in melbourne, and my finances are dwindling. Its good that the demon isn't coming back so soon, but eventually she'll come back. So i hope she "wakes up her idea" and finds another job. Because i definitely would not want to tolerate her imposing her enlightened views upon me, because, i, am my own person.

And the best part, its actually, next week! Damn cool i tell you.
- Chemistry : 17th August, 1320-1530hrs
- Physics : 19th August, 1530-1740hrs
- Pure Math : 20th August 1030-1240hrs
Thus, i packed my lunch, instead of eating out. Bloody expensive.
Spaghetti with ikea meatballs, wasn't half bad i reckon. Would have been great had i remembered to add in the bacon. No matter, although there was a super long queue at the microwave machines. Its better than spending 10 bucks on a meal, and then spending some more money on snacks. Now, i save on lunch and can spend more money on snacks!
Nah, less snacks too, so i can regain some fitness. Gonna start running soon. When spring first peeks over the horizon, and when i can afford some running shoes. Soon. Coming soon.

We caught "The Ugly Truth" and i liked it, thought it was good, girlfriend says it was so-so. But i think this is finally it, a romance flick for the guys. It ain't even half bad. Or maybe i'm turning into a girl. Whichever it is, go catch it, if it was worth my 10 bucks, its worth your $6.
And then we went shopping, at a shopping district called, Bridge Road. I got a pair of Onitsuka Tiger shoes for $70, and the girlfriend got a top for $5. And some random things like stuff from bodyshop which were on discount. But that doesn't matter.
Next, we got salmon sashimi from the fish shop at Victoria Gardens Shopping Center. It was pretty cheap i reckon, and the fish was fresh! You get a chunk from the shop, they will remove the skin and you can take it home to slice yourself.
We had pork chops, Henry style. Some vegetable dish made out of whatever jasmine could find in her fridge and our enoki mushrooms. And the sashimi. Obviously, we had our dinner at jasmine's.
Then for supper, or rather, dessert. We went to Stokers, this pancake cafe somewhere in the suburb called Ivanhoe. Its outerspace-y from my place. We actually had the pancake 2 weeks ago as well, but it was so good. Its not the usual hotel type of continental breakfast or the macdee's hotcakes type of pancakes. Its more akin to those crepes that they use to wrap stuff. Good shit.
And then, i'm at home, once again, i have no pictures because i've finally been convinced that the camera on my E63 sucks. No camera, no care. But i'm not gonna care because i won't lug a camera around wherever i go.
Over and out =D

School has been getting busy lately, with homework and stuff to do. And also because we're starting to go to sleep earlier, like the australians do.
The garden is more or less settled, the grass has started growing, although there are bald patches due to the birds coming in and wiping of patches and patches of seed. The cherry tree i planted is growing and the blueberry plant has flowers. Hopefully there will be fruit.
The strawberries has gotten pretty big, thanks to the relatively warmer temperatures, and that crimson seedless vine has also begun to stir.
With more water and stuff, the plants should grow vibrantly. We have lots of water stored for the summer. Can't say we're prepared though.
Today we bought a GPS, the Tomtom One 140. Alerts us when there's a speed camera coming up, so i get to drive with less worries. Pretty cool.
Weekends are pretty boring, movies are expensive and there really isn't much to do. But that's a good thing rather than a bad one. We spend less on petrol. $60 a fortnight compared to $60 a week in singapore. It helps that the fuel here is cheaper too. At $1.15/L.
We also bought a sandwich maker. Toasted bread with melted cheese sounds so good. I like.
But australia is really quite a slow place. Nothing is fast here, not the trains, not the internet, not the service, and you're definitely not allowed to drive quickly too, lest the government loses some revenue from fines.
Internet here is a bitch, partly because its expensive, and you get a limit on your bandwidth. Seriously. You get limited on both your upstream and downstream. I've never heard of shit like that happening anywhere else but the 3rd world countries. Even india has 10mbps unlimited for cheap.
And i'm done complaining, because i wanna sleep.

Been doing my homework lately, its a different situation now, from way before. Its pretty intense, the studying, as intense as when I was doing my O's. Its a good pace i reckon.
Chemistry is piss easy though. With things i've gone through during poly and before that, its gonna be a breeze, for the most part.
Now, i'm at a lanshop, i just played L4D with myself, but its not as fun as playing with friends. Solo ain't fun.
If anybody wants to visit, please do.

At $20/kg for chilled ribeye steaks, whats not to love. I have no pictures though. Currently, those steaks are in the fridge. Salted and peppered. For tomorrow's dinnner.
And tomorrow is Queen Victoria Market day. Which is a good thing. Cheap cherries, cute duckies and generally good fruits.
We also realised that, since we finished a tub of yoghurt in about 3 days, its better to get those near expiry and discounted. For example, the usual price of SKI yoghurt, is 4.99. Those near expiry go for $3. So, i'm learning to count my pennies. Since i'm supposed to be a broke student.
I've been really busy to date. Reveille at 8 every single day, working harder than my entire stint at Mandai Hill Camp. Carrying rocks, clearing trash, clearing more trash, and leaves, and more leaves, and even more leaves.
We have an ancient Oak tree on the front lawn. Its supposedly planted by some queen. Therefore, it cannot be cut down. This oak, is a leaf machine. Its winter now and its leaves have not been shed totally yet. Still dropping daily.
And our garbage is collected once a week.
Thats my post today. I'm not dead, not dead.
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
And so, i've been around, checking out stuff. Some things here are cheaper, some things here are more expensive, most things here are more expensive.
Cars, cherries and grapes are cheap ass. A lancer is 1/2 the price in singapore. I saw it on tv last night.
And cherries go for $15/kg, good stuff.
I have nothing more to say, other than its getting colder and colder. The peak of winter is in July/August, so what i've seen isn't much. I woke up shivering this morning. It was cold last night. Very cold.
Now, for the pictures.
I reckon $6 for 2 is pretty cheap. Berri.
Mr axolotyl looks cute.
